Negative self-talk

This week’s email is from Anne, who wrote, “Hi Roger, I feel like I’m going crazy. I feel so inadequate and so insecure and yet I know that the evidence doesn’t support my negative self-talk.

I am a successful executive in a tech company, I have a loving husband and family. I have great friends and I am healthy. I run marathons and ride my bike long distances. My children are doing excellent in school, sports and music. My family and my friends tell me how fortunate we are. We live in a beautiful home in a wonderful community. Intellectually, I know all of this and that by all accounts I am very fortunate, blessed and that I’m doing really well in life.

The problem is, all I think is that “I’m not good enough.” I’m constantly second-guessing myself, my relationships and its’ showing up at work with colleagues. No matter how well I do, I’m thinking, “not good enough.”

This self-talk makes me depressed, it’s driving my husband crazy and making things challenging at work. Can hypnosis help me end my negative self-talk?

Thanks,

Anne”

Not good enough

Oh, Anne, I know that one well. “Not good enough” was a chatter that ran my life. No matter what I did, it was never enough – never good enough for me. It got so bad that I stopped doing things. My thought was, if it’s not going to be enough, why bother.

For the past 20 years, I have taught almost all of my client’s hypnosis and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) techniques to transform negative self-talk into useful messages for transformation.

Anne, I’m actually going to write extensively about changing negative self-talk on Sunday, April 23, 2017, in my Becoming the Greatest Expression of you series. So I invite you to be sure to read that post. But, the answer to your question is “yes, hypnosis can help you overcome negative self-talk.”
