Women undergoing surgery for breast cancer who received a brief hypnosis session before entering the operating room required less anesthesia and pain medication during surgery, and reported less pain, nausea, fatigue, and discomfort after surgery than women who did not receive hypnosis. This afternoon I have the pleasure of speaking to about 50 people (doctors, nurses, staff and patients) at the Harrison Hospital oncology department in Silverdale, WA. It is always an honor for me to be able to share about my experiences teaching hypnosis to cancer patients. People living with cancer can learn hypnosis to improve their quality of life.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute

Studies are showing that hypnosis is a powerful and effective tool in dealing with the physical symptoms of cancer as well as decreasing need for anesthesia during surgery, alleviating pain, nausea, fatigue and emotional distress. Hypnosis is also used to modify the course of the disease process itself through the use of imagery. Studies show that during surgery, hypnotized women required 22% less analgesia and 34% less sedation. After surgery, they reported 53% less pain intensity, 46% less fatigue, 47% less discomfort, and 74% less emotional upset. They also spent 11 fewer minutes in surgery, resulting in a cost savings of almost $800.00 per patient. ~Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Sept. 5, 2007 (J Natl Cancer Inst. 2007 Sep 5;99(17):1304-12. Epub 2007 Aug 28)

A cancer diagnosis is a life-altering blow for anyone. Cancer is often a disease that lasts a long time, and people may be treated for it for many years. Hypnosis can help people with cancer live high-quality lives at every stage of their illness and receive healing in all that they do. According to the Mayo Clinic, “The purpose of Hypnosis as a therapeutic technique is to help you understand and gain more control over your behaviour, emotions or physical well-being”

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer, give me a call or email me and find out how you can learn hypnosis to for stress reduction, pain management and to improve the overall quality of life through the stages of treatment. If you live too far away, we can design Skype and phone sessions just for you.

Cornell professor T. Colin Campbell discusses his decades of NIH-funded research which show that meat and dairy promote cancer growth and a plant-based (vegan) diet can prevent and even reverse cancer. T.Collin Campbell is the author of The China Study and world renowned lecturer. The China Study details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes and cancer. The report also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and opportunistic scientists. You can get all of your nutritional needs met with a plant-based diet and self-hypnosis can make it easy for you to give up the meat and dairy proteins and start choosing plant-strong meals that promote your health. What’s surprising to me is how many people simply don’t care and want their meat anyway. The look on some people’s face when I suggest that they consider eating only plant-based food is telling – its almost as if I have suggested they cut off their legs. If you are one of those that just can’t imagine a life free of animal and dairy products even if it means reducing the risks of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disease and a host of other ailments, consider hypnosis. You can change your desires for meat and dairy easily with hypnosis.

Well-done Red Meat Linked to Aggressive Prostate Cancer

Health.com, November 23, 2011: Cardiologists and other doctors already view artery-clogging red meat as a villain, and they now have another reason to urge their patients to steer clear: A new study has found that men have a higher risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer if they consume a lot of ground beef and other red meat — especially if the meat is grilled or well-done.

The men in the study who ate about two servings of hamburger or meat loaf per week were more than twice as likely to have been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer as the men who ate none. But most of that increase in risk can be attributed to how the meat was cooked.

“This is another piece of evidence for the notion that red meat, particularly grilled meat, contains carcinogens that may relate to prostate cancer,” says Ronald D. Ennis, M.D., director of radiation oncology at St. Luke’s — Roosevelt Hospital Center, in New York City, who was not involved in the study.

When meat is cooked — and charred — at high temperatures over an open flame, a reaction occurs that causes the formation of two chemicals: heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). In animal studies, these chemicals have been shown to cause several types of cancer, including prostate cancer.

Although by now it is well established that red meat increases the risk of heart disease and colorectal cancer, its role in prostate cancer has been less clear. Numerous studies have investigated a possible link between meat consumption and prostate-cancer risk, but the results have been inconsistent.

Men who ate the most ground beef were 2.3 times more likely than men who ate none to have aggressive prostate cancer. Higher consumption of fatty lunchmeats (such as salami) and liver was also associated with an increase in cancer risk. On the other hand, poultry, bacon, and low-fat hot dogs and sausages appeared to have little influence on cancer risk.

When you look at all the health risks of eating meat and dairy, plant-based food make more and more sense – and they taste really great too. Hypnosis can help you make that mental shift so that plant-based foods taste better and better to you.

I’ll admit it, as I kid, I couldn’t have imagined eating plant-based food. But back then, I didn’t understand hypnosis and I didn’t know that with self-hypnosis I could have easily enjoyed vegetables over hot dogs!

There’s No Debate ~ Hot Dogs Cause Cancer

“Hot dogs gamble away your most precious asset—your health,” says PCRM nutrition education director Susan Levin, M.S., R.D. “Processed meats like hot dogs can increase your risk of diabetes, heart disease, and various types of cancer. Like cigarettes, hot dogs should come with a warning label that helps people in Las Vegas understand the health risk.”

According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, just one 50-gram serving of processed meat (about the amount in one hot dog) consumed daily increases the risk of colorectal cancer, on average, by 21 percent. Americans eat 20 billion hot dogs a year, as well as significant amounts of bacon, cold cuts, and other processed meats.

Read There’s No Debate ~ Hot Dogs Cause Cancer

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Americans typically consume 7 billion hot dogs—818 each second. That’s a lot! Perhaps the good news is that it is fall, but I bet there are still plenty of hot dogs, sausages and other carcinogens that are being served across America. There are so many health benefits to eat plant-based food that it just doesn’t make any sense to eat processed food. Your health simply cannot afford the risk. What’s the matter? Can’t you imagine life with out meat? That is where hypnosis comes in. You see, with self-hypnosis you can change and you can create a healthy desire for vegetables, whole grain and fruit.

Have you been believing all the hype about omega-3? Well, think again. In many recent studies, fish oil has not lived up to its marketing claims. Specifically, it is no help for heart patients, does not forestall Alzheimer’s disease, does not prevent depression, and—so far at least—does not make babies smarter. Give up the fish oil and focus on vegetables, whole grains and fruit. You can make healthy lifestyle changes with hypnosis.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids Linked to
Prostate Cancer Risk

Researchers from Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center looked at 3,461 participants in the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial and found that men with the most DHA in their bloodstreams were two-and-a-half times more likely to have an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Similar results were found in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study, where men who had the highest omega-3 levels had the highest risk for prostate cancer.

Fish oil is starting to look a lot like snake oil. The new findings linking higher DHA levels to cancer add yet another reason to skip fish and fish oil supplements. The more that I research, the more convinced that I become that vegetables, whole grains and fruit are the way to go. Living on plant-based food really is quite easy and using hypnosis makes it even easier.

Hypnotherapy for Cancer:
Beyond the Swinging Pendulum

The folks at Mayo Clinic tell us that stress is a normal psychological and physical reaction to the demands of life. Your brain comes hard-wired with an alarm system for your protection. When your brain perceives a threat, your body releases a burst of hormones to fuel your fight-or-flight response. When the threat is gone, your body returns to normal. Unfortunately, the nonstop stress of modern life means that your alarm system rarely shuts off.

It may seem that there’s nothing you can do about your stress level. The bills aren’t going to stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day for all your errands, and your career or family responsibilities will always be demanding. But you have a lot more control than you might think. In fact, the simple realization that you’re in control of your life is the foundation of stress management.

Managing stress is all about taking charge: taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, and your behavior. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun – plus the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.

That’s why stress management is so important. Stress management gives you the tools to reset your alarm system. Without stress management, your body is always on red alert. Over time, that level of stress leads to serious health problems. Don’t wait until then to combat stress.

Studies show that during surgery, that hypnotized women required 22% less analgesia and 34% less sedation. After surgery, they reported 53% less pain intensity, 46% less fatigue, 47% less discomfort, and 74% less emotional upset. They also spent 11 fewer minutes in surgery, resulting in a cost savings of almost $800.00 per patient. ~Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

<a href="http://hypnosishealthinfo.com/health/cancer/"title="Hypnosis-for-cancer" target="_blank">Learn more about using hypnosis for cancer.
