It is Spring and our life with Mom is coming to a close. Mom’s weight held again this week – I don’t know that she will reach her goal of 20 pounds, but that’s OK. She is so much healthier and more mobile having eaten real food for 15 weeks. I still continue to marvel at the impact daily exercise has made for her. She assures me that she uses her self-hypnosis and I do know that she listens to her Slender For Life™ weight loss hypnosis CDs.
Mom leaves in less than 3 weeks to go back to her home in Colorado Springs. It doesn’t seem possible that it was only 15 weeks ago that she and I flew to my home after her house fire. I am starting to panic about all the things we haven’t yet talked about – I have even started a list of things I wanted to tell her or ask her. I keep thinking that I need to dig out photo albums of her grandparents, aunts and uncles and make sure I know the who they are and know the stories.
Mom was outside several times this week exercising with her caregiver and went out on the deck to sit in the sun on Saturday for a few minutes. Saturday evening we drove around the Island looking at the cherry blossoms and at the rhododendrons and then out to dinner. Sunday Mom and I drove to Suquamish to go to the Tribal Museum – only it was closed for council elections. We then drove the north end of the Island to see the spring bloom.
Mom has proven that no matter how old you are, it is never too late to start eating healthy and to start exercising. She has also proven that it is never too late to learn self-hypnosis.
