The discussion of protein and early onset of puberty is not new to Hypnosis Health Info, it is a topic that I have discussed in these daily blog posts on numerous occasions.
Last week on the ferry I sat next to two very obese women who were eating fish & chips and clam chowder. These moms were talking about their 9 and 10 year-old daughters who had started their periods. Both moms were surprised to learn that their daughter was no alone.
I so desperately wanted to jump into the conversation, but I didn’t either women and even though they sat down next to me to eat and talk, I tried to stay focused on the book that I was reading.
It became even more challenging for me when the two daughters showed up. Both, very overweight with large sodas and a bag of chips.
I knew that I couldn’t say anything and there was no place for the girls to sit, I got up and left so that they could use my table. I knew right then that I had to write about early onset of puberty and childhood obesity.
In 2011, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggested that “people of all ages, including children, that adhere to a vegetarian diet generally have lower average body mass indexes (BMI) than others, and are generally leaner than their meat-eating counterparts.”
John McDougall, M.D. said, “The pain and suffering inflicted on children by the American diet is so brutal that if it were administered with a stick, parents would be put in jail.”
If you have children, I beg you, please start teaching them about the wonders of a plant-based lifestyle. If you have friends and family members with children, please find ways to share with them the health benefits of a whole food plant-based lifestyle.
My experience is that children will quickly and surprisingly easily adapt to a whole plant-based food lifestyle, especially when they are involved in the process.
If you and or your children are overweight and if you are ready for lasting healthy weight loss, there is a solution. The solution is with Seattle Hypnosis with Roger Moore and my Slender For Life™ Weight Loss Hypnosis program.

Weight Loss Hypnosis for Kids
Kids are naturals at hypnosis and when given the chance, they easily adapt to a whole food plant-based lifestyle.
For children under the age of 16, I insist that wight loss be a family affair. I have Mom, Dad and the siblings in my office. It’s a beautiful thing when the kids start teaching Mom and Dad about living a healthy lifestyle!
Diet-Induced Precocious Puberty
“As populations of people have gradually changed their diets from plant-based to animal-based, (rich in meats, dairy products, and refined foods) the onset of sexual maturity has decreased at a rate of about 2 to 6 months per decade. For example, the age of onset of the first menses, a time known as menarche, has decreased steadily from age 17.2 years in Norway in 1830 to age 13.2 years in 1950 (WHO Monograph 62:500, 1976). Similar changes have been seen in other western European countries over the past 160 years. In Britain, over the past 150 years the average age of menarche has fallen from 16.5 years to 12.8 years (Lancet 342:1375, 1993).
In the United States, in 1900, girls started their first periods at age 14 years, by 1960 they were menstruating by an average age 12.7. In Japan, in 1875, little girls became women capable of having babies at 16.5 years of age. Just after WW II (1950) they started their first periods at age 15.2. By 1960 the age of menarche was 13.9, by 1970 it fell to 12.5–just like little white girls in the United States. The slowest onset of maturity, with an mean age of menarche of 18-19 years, was observed in women of Papua New Guinea in the 1960s–a time when the people ate a nearly vegetarian, very low-fat diet.”

Protein, Puberty, and Pollutants
“Early onset of puberty is considered a risk factor for a number of diseases in adulthood, including hormone-related cancers, a shorter lifespan, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease.
The most consistent link between diet and premature puberty has been animal protein consumption.
The early onset of puberty in girls associated with animal protein consumption may be due to endocrine disrupting chemical pollutants in the meat supply.” ~Dr. Michael Greger
