One of challenges to diet and weight loss is secondary gain. Often there is a reason, a need, a payoff to keep the weight on. Reasons for keeping the weight on may be mental, emotional and physical. It may feel safer to keep the weight on. Perhaps there is a fear of being noticed or having attention paid to a slender body.
There are three components to resolving secondary gain: Recognition, Evaluation and Resolution. Recognition is looking at your internal dialogue and acknowledging that there is a part of you that wants to change and another part that just wants to continue that old behavior.
Evaluation are identifying the benefits for being overweight and the benefits for Becoming Slender For Life .
