Beat the Holiday Blues
I have again been honored to publish an article in the November/December 2020 Desert Health. My article, 11 Ways to Beat the Holiday Blues, is is all about having celebrating the Holidays while living with the reality of Covid.
This year our Holidays will be different – there is no denying that. Many of us will honor and show our love for our family and friends by not getting together. Yes, we will miss our children and grandchildren, but we love them enough to not be selfish and foolish and risking spreading the virus.
We will find ways with phone calls, FaceTime, Zoom and maybe some of us will go so far as to return to hand written cards and letters.
Emotions are a choice. You can choose Holiday Blues or to be filled with happiness and love. Lets all remember the true spirit of the Holidays by social distancing, loving and maybe even dancing joyfully!
Here are 11 ways you can navigate the 2020 holidays with a smile:
- Drink plenty of water
- Get plenty of sleep
- Eat the good-for-you stuff
- Minimize fats, salts and sugars
- Avoid alcohol
- Celebrate some new holiday traditions
- Manage your budget
- Gather together – apart. Perhaps most important. Pray, meditate, or use self-hypnosis and other mindfulness-based ways of feeling spiritually connected and managing your stress.
