Aging Joyfully

Aging joyfully. I love that! If you’ve hung around me very much you know that for several years I’ve been talking about joy and about how we can create more joyousness in our lives. So maybe you can imagine my excitement when someone brought this article into my radar.

Like the author of this article, for most of my life I’ve looked forward to aging with excitement. There was a brief time in high school and college where I wasn’t too sure that I could manage and support myself as an adult. As much as I wanted to move out of my parent’s home, it was scary.

At age 29, I wasn’t so sure about turning 30. In my mind, being 30 years-old meant that I should start acting like an “adult”. But then I turned 30 and is was new found freedom and I realized that I can be responsible, support my family and be young at heart. Aging is inevitable, so why not do it joyfully? Here’s how is all about how to remain young at heart. I encourage you to read it and age joyfully in awe!

Age with acceptance

I fully believe that we can age joyfully and age with acceptance. I get it, there are things that I could do 5, 10 or 20 years ago and I cannot (or choose not) to do today. I’ve put my body through a lot over the years and I won’t be running a 6th marathon but I now find other ways to keep my body moving, active and healthy.

Twenty years ago one of the highlights of my life was climbing Mt. Rainier. Today, I don’t like being cold and going up there to sleep in a tent on a glacier just doesn’t excite me anymore. And that’s OK.

Aging Becoming the Greatest Expression of You

I like to think of aging as becoming the greatest expression of me. Imagine that with each breath you take that you are living in joy and becoming a better version of you.

My new book, Becoming the Greatest Expression of You will be published this fall. The methods in this book were developed over 25 years with hundreds of my clients who have physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually improved their lives. If you’re ready to make lasting and meaningful changes, then this is the book for you. And it will help you to age joyfully!

Watch for the release date of Becoming the Greatest Expression of You.

Aging is inevitable, so why not do it joyfully? Here’s how

“What if instead of seeing aging as something to defeat and conquer, we were to embrace what gets better with age, and work to amplify these joys while mitigating the losses of youth? I’m not suggesting we paper over the very real challenges, both physical and mental, that come with aging. But can we view these challenges without judgment or shame and instead look for joyful ways to navigate them?

I delved into the research on aging, and here are 8 insights I’ve found that can help us think about joyful ways to feel well as we grow older.”
