Are raisins a healthy snack?
One of the questions that Slender For Life™ hypnosis for weight loss clients frequently ask me is, “Are raisins a healthy snack?”. My response has always been, if you want to have a few raisins in your oatmeal, go for it.
If you are sitting there in front of the TV mindlessly eating handfuls of raisins, don’t do that for lots of reasons. Keep in mind that a serving size of raisins is 1/4 cup which is 130 calories and 29 grams of sugar. If your paying attention to calories and your goal is 1500 calories a day and 130 of them are from raisins that only leaves you 1370 calories for the rest of the day.
I love raisins, especially golden raisins. When I am backpacking through the mountains or on a 100 mile bike ride, I’m apt to have a baggy of raisins on me for a snack. But at home, If I don’t have fresh or frozen fruit, I might have a table spoon of raisins in my oatmeal. And, I have about a tablespoon of raisins on my dinner salad.
