I received this email from Angie on Bainbridge Island, asking about hypnosis for postpartum depression.
“Roger my doctor referred me to you for postpartum depression. She said that another one of her patients had gone to and had great results. I had my first baby 2 months ago and I have been experiencing depression, anxiety and times when I am irritable with my husband for no real reason. I’m nursing, and I don’t want to take medications. Can hypnosis help postpartum depression?”
Hypnosis can help postpartum depression
Here is what I wrote back: “Yes, Angie, hypnosis can help postpartum depression. Over the years, I have helped several mothers with hypnosis for postpartum depression.
Studies show that hypnosis is an effective treatment for depression, anxiety and stress reduction. Hypnosis can also help you with effective coping mechanisms and mindfulness-based stress reduction as you adjust to your new life as a Mom.
I’m happy that you are working with your medical doctor. Always keep in mind that Medical hypnosis is not an alternative to or replacement for professional medical care.
Be sure to consult with your physician and continue medical treatment. Medical hypnosis is used in cooperation with your professional medical treatment.
There is more that I want to know about you, so I will call you tomorrow so that we can find out more about each other and to get you scheduled for your first session.”
