Be Mindful

I have been reminded several times in recent weeks of the importance to be mindful of what you are mindful of. If you are being mindful of the things you fear and ignoring beauty and abundance in your life, then you are building and strengthening the connections of fear. By ignoring the beauty and abundance in your life, you are deleting those synaptic connections.

For the previous forty-two posts on Becoming the Greatest Expression of You I have been repeatedly saying that “neurons that fire together wire together.” The more you use a neuro-circuit in your brain, the stronger that circuit becomes.

How often have you heard, “practice makes perfect”? Well, it does. The more you practice playing the piano, or using a foreign language, the more you build and strengthen neural connections. The more you repeat something the better you get at it. The more you repeat “woe is me, ain’t it awful,” the better you become at victimization.

Be Mindful

How does your garden grow?

I found an article from Fast Company that describes the brain as a garden. Instead of growing flowers, fruits, and vegetables, you grow synaptic connections between neurons. Fast Company says, “To take advantage of your brain’s natural gardening system, simply think about the things that are important to you. Your gardeners will strengthen those connections and prune the ones that you care about less. It’s how you help the garden of your brain flower.” I encourage you to read the full article: Your Brain Has A “Delete” Button –  Here’s How To Use It.

What are you being mindful of?

So, what are you being mindful of? Are you being mindful of what you don’t want or, are you mindful of what you do want? Are you thinking that you can’t, or that you aren’t good enough or that you don’t deserve? Or, are you focused on the love and abundance that life has to offer you? If you are using my Becoming the Greatest Expression of You process, you are being mindful of what you do want. I encourage you to be mindful of what you are mindful of.
