I’m always drawn to the research of T. Colin Campbell, PhD, especially when it’s about nutrition and cancer growth. You see, in my role as a health care hypnotherapist, I’ve been teaching hypnosis for lifestyle change to people living with cancer and to their family for many years. It’s been thrilling for me to hear positive feedback from many of these people in my own offices, at Peninsula Cancer Center and at Cancer Pathways (formerly Gilda’s Club Seattle).
In addition to making healthier lifestyle choices, hypnosis for cancer is a powerful and effective tool in dealing with the physical symptoms of cancer as well as decreasing need for anesthesia during surgery, alleviating pain, nausea, fatigue and emotional distress. Medical Self-hypnosis is also used to modify the course of the disease process itself through the use of imagery.

The Protein Juggernaut Has Deep Roots

The entire history of protein reflects an enthusiasm suggesting that the more protein we consume the greater the health benefits.
It is through our ignorance of history, especially that concerning protein, that we continue to repeat it. This history shows how we came to revere increasing consumption of so-called high quality protein and, as a result, we have substantially skewed our dietary practices in favor of the consumption of animal-based foods at the expense of plant-based foods. As a result, too many people (professionals included) justify this practice in the name of good science but they do so without knowing the historical basis for their views. We all pay the price.

A Healthy Diet Will Slow and/or
Stop Most Cancers. Why Not?
On February 13, 2015, the American Cancer Society published their recommendations that cancer survivors should follow “prudent diets,” plant-based diets that are high in fruits, vegetables and unrefined grains while at the same time being low in red and processed meats, refined grains, and sugars. Its report states, “These diets are contrasted to ‘Western’ diets,’ which have the opposite pattern and are heavy in meats, sweets, other processed foods, and dietary fat.” They also recommend weight loss and exercise in order to prolong survival for people with cancer.
