When Clouds by Zach Sobeich first appeared on YouTube I was deeply moved by the spirit of this young man. Zach passed away one week ago today and it seems only appropriate to honor him on this Memorial Day. Zach was all about doing what makes you happy and no matter when you’re going go, live life to the fullest every day. Let’s honor Zach and our veterans by living life to the fullest.

My Last Days: Meet Zach Sobiech

Zach Sobiech: Finding peace through music

Zach was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in November 2009. Since his diagnosis, Zach has endured several surgeries and months of chemo.

At the end of May, 2012 cancer was found in his pelvis & lungs. There are no known effective treatments left.

In October of 2012, Zach wrote a song called ‘Clouds’. The song has touched millions around the world. He & his band, A Firm Handshake, have released several other songs as an EP called Fix Me Up.

On Monday, May 20, 2013 Zach passed away. He is known as the kid who went down fighting…but didn’t really lose.

In the SoulPancake video, Zach said, “My closure is being able to get my feelings into these songs so they can have something to remember me by or lean on when I’m gone. I want to be remembered as a kid who went down fighting, and didn’t really lose.” May we all live our life to the fullest, go down fighting and not really lose.
