Drink more water

This week’s reading from chapter seven in my book Becoming Slender For Life is “Drink more water,” which is the fourth step in the Seven steps to permanent weight control. It was just this past April 12, that the Ask Roger  question was How much water should I drink? You will find conflicting information about how much water you should drink each day. The old recommendation that you should drink 64 ounces of water each day is now in question.

Dr. Michael Greger states that “unless you have conditions like heart or kidney failure, women should drink 4 to 7 cups of water a day and men should drink 6 to 11.” Jeff Novick writes that people should “drink when they feel thirsty, as the best way to protect against consuming too much or too little fluids.”

In my 20 years as the owner and director of Slender For Life™ Hypnosis for Weight Loss I have observed that people who drink more water lose weight quicker and easier than those who drink less water. By this I mean, drink water when you are thirsty and make sure that you are drinking water throughout your day.

If you are having a sugar craving or a salt craving, drink a glass of water, weight five minutes and see if you still are craving the salt or sweet. Most of the time you will have forgotten about the craving.

Fourth Step: Drink more water

Drink at least six to eight glasses of water throughout the day. Water flushes out your body’s waste as you burn off your fat. Drinking water also removes excess retained water. If you dislike water, give yourself hypnotic suggestions to increase your desire for drinking water. (Cut back as you approach bedtime to prevent an overactive bladder during the night).
