BBC News, November 25, 2013: Taking up exercise in your 60s will still help stave off major ill health and dementia. It is never to late to begin or to benefit. Those who took up exercise were three times more likely to remain healthy over the next eight years than their sedentary peers. Exercise cut the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and depression. People who took up exercise in their 60s were also less likely to struggle with day-to-day activities such as washing and dressing.

My Mom is a testament to “it’s never too late to  exercise.” She’s now 91 and started exercising 2 years ago when she lived with us for several weeks. The exercises that she does helps her get in and out of her chair, on and off the toilet, in and out of bed, in and out of the car and gets her from one store to the next in the shopping mall.
