The December 10, 2007 Newsweek has a cover story on The Fertility Diet. The story, written by Jorge E. Chavarro, M.D., Walter C. Willett, M.D., both are in the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health and Patrick J. Skerrett, editor of the Harvard Heart Letter, supports what I have been suggesting to clients for several years who come to me for hypnosis for infertility.
For years I have had clients come to use hypnotherapy to become pregnant. I have used hypnosis with men to increase sperm count and with women to improve ovulation. With both men and women, we discuss diet and exercise. If being over weight is an issue, we use hypnotherapy focus on diet and exercise.
For men & women who are at a healthy weight, I have always suggested that they cut our refined process foods, that they eat whole grains and vegetables, that they eliminate trans fats, decrease animal proteins and increase vegetable proteins and that they must exercise.
The article says that the Nurses’ Health Study indicates that the amount of carbohydrates is not the issue, its the quality of the carbs. Eating whole grains, beans, vegetables and whole fruits can improve ovulation. The more trans fats in the diet, the greater the likelihood of developing ovulatory infertility. Ovulatory infertility was 39% more likely in women with the highest intake of animal protein than those with the lowest. The reverse was true for women with the highest intake of plant protein, who were substantially less likely to have had ovulatory infertility than women with the lowest plant protein. Exercise is also important. While studies have shown that too much exercise coupled with too little stored energy can throw off or turn off ovulation in elite athletes, early Homo sapiens burned twice as many calories each day as the average American does today and were fertile despite it – or because of it.
Hypnosis can be a powerful tool for becoming pregnant, during pregnancy and for child birth. Use hypnotherapy to change your eating desires, to increase your desire to exercise and to lose weight.
