Let’s review the most common problem foods. This information comes from the McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss. I highly recommend that you at least minimize if not eliminate them all— or as many of these fattening foods as possible from your life. Meat: including beef, pork and lamb. All are rich in fat, cholesterol and cause a distinct insulin spike— sometimes greater than foods like pasta—and meats are high in sulfur-containing amino acids which leach calcium from the bones.

Poultry and fish: poultry has about the same amount of cholesterol and fat as red meat, while fish varies depending on the type. Some fish are higher in cholesterol than red meat,
others lower.
