Let’s end with some good news
According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, July 2005, there is a general perception that almost no one succeeds in long-term maintenance of weight loss. However, recent research has shown that 20 percent of overweight individuals are successful at long-term weight loss when defined as losing at least 10 percent of initial body weight and maintaining the loss for at least one year. The key is to build on your first signs of success, focus on progress not perfection, but never lose sight of the fact that you are making a permanent lifestyle change.
As of this writing (in late 2010) there are signs that food suppliers are getting the message that we desperately need and want to eat more healthily. In late 2006 New York City instituted a bold law banning trans fats. Since then, cities like Seattle and others around the globe have been following suit. Restaurants are changing the way they operate, with most fast food chains pouring out the unhealthy oils. Even Denny’s—formerly known for giant platters of fried food— announced plans to dump trans fats. Then came news that Wal-Mart of all places is going to sell organic food. That means healthier options are reaching into the smallest towns and farthest corners of America—which conveniently eliminates yet another potential excuse—that there is no healthy food in your area.

It’s about you loving yourself as absolutely as any pet ever did. It is about a transformation from within. You no longer fill yourself with food— you fill yourself with living.
