College Anxiety
In the past two weeks, I’ve been contacted by 7 college kids who are struggling with stress, anxiety and panic attacks. And, I have 3 new high school students as clients who are totally freaked out about graduation, college and beginning their life away from mom and dad.
Six of these students are from Seattle and Bainbridge Island, the others are from different states and we meet online via the Hypnosis Health Info Virtual Office.
Every year at this time I receive a few calls, but this is a new record. I’m not sure what this says about our expectations of high school and college students or how we have raised our children. I do know that I am thankful that I did not have the same pressures on me when I was in high school and college. Back in the day, college was affordable and an average GPA garnered entrance to all three schools that I applied. Today, it’s a very different story and the pressures our children deal with often create maladaptive coping strategies for survival.
Hypnosis Stress Reduction
If you or your child is suffering with anxiety, panic attacks or other unhealthy methods of coping with stress, hypnosis stress reduction can work for you or for your son or daughter.
At Seattle Hypnosis with Roger Moore I teach stress management techniques that are quick and easy to learn and to use. And, I teach you a one-minute self-hypnosis technique so that no matter how busy you are or how many stressors are being hurled at you, you will still have the ability to step out of the stress and anxiety and be mindful, calm and relaxed. Thanks to self-hypnosis, you realize that every little thing will be alright.
Hypnosis and other stress management techniques help you to relax so that your mind becomes more absorbent and able to learn. Hypnosis helps you to study effectively, understand and retain the information you are learning for easy recall.
Call or email me now to schedule your hypnosis stress reduction session. We can meet in Seattle, on Bainbridge Island or online from the comfort of your home or office.

Hypnosis in the treatment of anxiety- and stress-related disorders
An overview of research is also provided with regard to self-hypnotic treatment of anxiety-related disorders, such as tension headaches, migraines and irritable bowel syndrome. The tremendous volume of research provides compelling evidence that hypnosis is an efficacious treatment for state anxiety (e.g., prior to tests, surgery and medical procedures) and anxiety-related disorders, such as headaches and irritable bowel syndrome.

Treating anxiety with self-hypnosis and relaxation
Twenty individuals who presented for treatment for ‘stress, anxiety, and worry’ were assessed (for anxiety and self-hypnotizability), exposed to a 28-day treatment programme (which involved daily measures of outcome and process variables), and re-assessed (for anxiety). It was found that both self-hypnosis and relaxation alleviated anxiety pre- to post-treatment. Although there was no difference in the outcome data, throughout treatment self-hypnosis rather than relaxation was associated with a greater sense of treatment efficacy and expectation and with a greater sense of cognitive and physical change.

Hypnotherapy and test anxiety
44 introductory psychology students received 4 sessions of hypnosis and 50 Hawthorne controls received no treatment over the same time period. Ss’ midterm test grades and scores on the Test Anxiety Inventory were examined. There was a decrease in test anxiety and improvements in achievement for the hypnosis group. The treatment gains were maintained at 6-wk follow-up.
