Joy Ride

My Mom would always love a joy ride. So the Amazon Christmas ad, Joy Ride touches my heart every time I watch it. My wife saw it first and paused the TV and had me come into the room to watch it. We were both deeply moved and thought of my Mom and remarked that she would have joined these wonderful ladies on her toboggan.

I’ve been writing blog posts for the past 16 years (more than 4700 posts) and I could count on one hand how many of the post contained a commercial for a product or company. The Joy of living in the moment portrayed in this ad deserves our attention.

We are in the midst of the Holidays. No matter how old you are, you too can find true Joy. I invite you to scroll down and watch this one-minute beautiful reminder to live Joyfully!

Mindful Merriment: Embracing the Joy Rides This Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, it’s easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of festivities, gift shopping, and endless to-do lists. Amidst the glitter and garlands, it’s important to pause and reflect on what truly makes this time of year so special.

Savoring the Small Moments

The holiday season is ripe with little moments that, if savored, can bring immense joy. Whether it’s the aroma of freshly baked cookies, the laughter of family and friends, or the serene sight of snowflakes gently falling, these instances are what the holidays are about. Practice being in the now, appreciating these snippets of happiness.

Gratitude: A Holiday Gift to Ourselves

One of the most powerful ways to cultivate joy is through gratitude. The holidays provide a perfect backdrop to count our blessings. Reflect on the past year and acknowledge the growth, the challenges overcome, and the love shared. This practice not only enhances our mood but also helps us to connect deeper with those around us.

Giving Back: The Heart of the Holiday Spirit

The essence of the holiday spirit lies in giving. It doesn’t always have to be about physical gifts. Offering your time, attention, and kindness can sometimes be the most valuable gifts you can give. Volunteer at a local charity, help a neighbor in need, or simply be there for a friend. These acts of kindness enrich our sense of purpose and connection.

Creating Mindful Traditions

Traditions are the threads that weave the tapestry of our holiday experiences. This year, consider creating new traditions that emphasize mindfulness and joy. It could be a family meditation before the holiday meal, a gratitude circle, or an evening of sharing stories and memories.

Unplugging for Genuine Connection

In our digitally dominated world, it’s essential to consciously unplug and connect in real-time with our loved ones. Designate tech-free times during holiday gatherings to ensure that everyone is truly present and engaged.

Embracing Imperfection

Finally, remember that the holidays don’t have to be perfect. It’s okay if the cookies burn a little or if the decorations aren’t magazine-worthy. Embrace the imperfections as part of the unique charm of your holiday celebration.

Let’s Joy Ride

As we navigate this festive season, let’s commit to being mindful and living JOYFULLY. Let’s make this holiday season not just about the grandeur and the gifts, but about the love, laughter, and joy we share. Here’s to a holiday season filled with mindful merriment and many Joy Rides!
