Keep Going
Keep Going is this week’s topic on Becoming the Greatest Expression of You. In recent weeks I’ve met with several clients who were very discouraged and ready to give up. They were filled with despair and doubt. They were ready to throw in the towel and quit.
I’ve also met with people who are successful in most areas of their life. They have family, jobs, money, and the big house and yet they were dissatisfied. I often hear a lack of purpose. It’s as if they’ve walked on the moon and now there is nowhere else to go. They are stuck as life passes them by.
The most content, happy and successful people that I coach are still going strong. Often these clients are retired, but they still are working at bettering themselves and making a contribution to the world around them.
You don’t have to be sick to get better
In moments of despair and doubt, it’s essential that we show up and do the work. Giving up is easy but it doesn’t get you to where you want to be.
When you don’t have a purpose or a goal to strive for, when you don’t get out of bed for a reason, it’s hard to be happy.
I once read that you don’t have to be sick to get better. You don’t have to have a bad attitude to get a better one. You can be content, happy and successful and create even more joy in your life.
People who are still working and have amazing jobs are the happiest when they are striving to improve and for what’s next.
The happiest and most joyful retired people that I meet all have purpose in their life. Some of them have lots of money. Many of them have limited funds. They are active, they volunteer, and they are connected with family, friends and community.
Love and Give
I remember one time a conversation about life with my Grandmother. She was in her 90’s and still living alone. She lived in her old, cold, drafty Iowa farmhouse. She had no money. She got up every morning, she ate, she read the paper, listened to the radio, visited with company when they came and she went to bed.
Grandma and I were talking about career, goals and living life. I asked her what got her out of bed in the morning. She didn’t hesitate. “To pray for you and all my children and grandchildren, to read my Bible and water my plants.”
My Grandma was very clear about her contribution and about continuing to better herself. She was happy and content. She loved and she gave.
Make lemon aid
I’ve noticed that the people who are the most successful at using the Greater Expression of You process and who achieve the best results are the ones who already are happy and have purpose in their life. It’s important to note that these same people are my clients because they are dealing with challenges. Disease, pain life’s trials and tribulations are part of our human experience. They are my clients because they want to better themselves and they want to keep on going. They keep on becoming their best self. No matter what, they love and they give. Don’t stop just because life handed you a lemon.
The Greatest Expression of You isn’t a destination. It is a journey so keep going. Love and give.

Hi Roger,
I walked 60 miles and had energy to spare. I raised $10,795 for breast cancer research and feel great about that too.
Congratulations Vicki! You truly are an inspiration and thank you for raising over $10,000 for breast cancer research. It is an honor to know you.
