What do I mean by mentally rehearse being the greatest expression of you? Mental rehearsal is a step by step thought process of how you want to be the greatest expression of you during your day. You may recall that the previous four Sundays I have written about Becoming The Greatest Expression of You. Today is part 5 in this series. Let me begin by talking about mental rehearsal versus imagination.
Imagination: If I imagine getting ready to go to Maui, I see myself getting t-shirts off of the shelf, swim suits out of the drawer, my flip-flops and maybe a pair of blue jeans on the plane. I won’t need any other long pants because most of my time will be spent rotating on the beach, boogie boarding, body surfing and snorkeling. Maybe one night I’ll rent dive equipment and go to Black Sand beach and go for a night dive through the lava tube and check out the sharks.
But wait – what happened to getting ready to go to Maui? I went from swim suits to swimming with sharks – I never finished packing. Imagination takes us to far off places and we forget what our real purpose is all about.
Mental Rehearsal: I go out into the garage and get the suit cases and bring them into the house. I go to the shelf and get t-shirts, the drawer to get swim suits, to another drawer to get shorts, another drawer to get underwear and the corner of the closet to get flip-flops. I go to my bathroom and get my razor, tooth brush, tooth paste and other toiletries.
This is a step-by-step plan that I make in my mind so that when it come time to pack, my brain is all primed and my body will easily flow with the plan.
Mentally rehearse being the greatest expression of you
Begin by reading the 2 or 3 sentences that describe being the Greatest Expression of You. Next, meditate on this and memorize being joyful. And now, mentally rehearse being joyful throughout the day as you go about your day. Be sure to give thanks for being the Greatest Expression of You because living in a state of gratitude is living in a state of receivership.

Be sure that an important component of your mental rehearsal is being joyful. Include as much possible positive emotion as you can invoke.
