I have known from my work with Slender For Life™ clients that Fibromyalgia and obesity often went hand-in-hand, but I did not know that risk of Fibromyalgia may be increased by being obese. Since 1999 have have had the honor of witnessing clients with Fibromyalgia obtain relief from pain and discomfort with hypnosis. In my Seattle hypnosis and Bainbridge Island hypnosis offices I use the Fibro What? protocol that was developed by Melissa Roth. On a national basis, 94% of the people using this therapy experienced a greater than 50% reduction in symptoms. If you suffer with Fibromyalgia, put self-hypnosis to work for you and overcome your symptoms.
Obesity May Raise Risk of Fibromyalgia
But Study Shows Exercise May Offset the Fibromyalgia Risk of Obese Women
According to the April 29, 2010, WebMD Health News, Overweight and obese women — especially those who do not exercise at all or exercise for less than an hour a week — are at higher risk for developing the widespread pain disorder fibromyalgia, according to new research in the May issue of Arthritis Care & Research.
Being overweight or obese was associated with an increased risk of fibromyalgia, especially among women who also reported low levels of leisure time physical exercise.
Exercise tended to offset the fibromyalgia risks posed by obesity. The more that women exercised, the lower their risk of developing fibromyalgia. Exercise is helpful even if you are obese. We know that people who already have fibromyalgia and exercise do far better than those people who have the disorder and don’t exercise, and this study reinforces the relationship between exercise and fibromyalgia.
