Overnight oatmeal

This Overnight oatmeal is a godsend for many of you who are looking for quick and easy ways to have oatmeal for breakfast. Many of you have asked me over the years how to quickly prepare great oatmeal. Sometimes there just isn’t time to cook oatmeal in the morning before running out the door. And for some of us, there are days we don’t have anyway to heat up oatmeal.

Last week, Karen was telling me about he Overnight oatmeal. It sounded easy and delicious. Karen graciously shared her recipe and the photo of it in the jars with us. Thank you Karen!

I’ve always said that oatmeal is food of the gods. It’s the perfect way to fuel your body for an active day. It’s delicious, nutritious, satisfying and will keep you from being hungry for hours. I’ve been known to have oatmeal for breakfast and lunch.

Overnight oatmeal

Ingredients:

4 cups oatmeal
4 cups applesauce
Vanilla and Cinnamon to taste
1/2 cup Fresh or frozen fruit

Directions:

Mix together oatmeal, applesauce, vanilla and cinnamon
Pour fruit into 5 pint jars
Pour oatmeal mix on top
Store in refrigerator over night.

Serve cold or warm.
Yields 5 pints
Keeps for several days
