Hypnosis Pain relief

It was just this past Monday (October 31) that I wrote about hypnosis pain relief. As I wrote that post I remembered I had recently read research that showed that knowingly taking placebo pills eases pain. According to the study, people who knowingly took placebos reported 30% less pain and 29% reduction in disability.

Hypnosis is not a placebo but there are similarities. Hypnosis and placebo both involve suggestion and both are commonly used in medical settings. And, the data shows that each one works for pain relief. The difference is that each one involves different regions of the brain.

I’ve been teaching hypnosis pain control techniques since 1997 and I have witnessed that it works. In the Medical Dental Building in downtown Seattle, and on Bainbridge Island, dentists and doctors refer their patients for pain control hypnosis. In recent years I have taught hypnosis pain management techniques online to people who were unable to travel or who lived in too far away to come to my office.

Pain relief Hypnosis works

According to the American Psychological Association pain relief hypnosis works. The APA says that:  “Hypnosis is likely to be effective for most people suffering from diverse forms of pain.”

The APA also reports that “among the benefits associated with hypnosis is the ability to alter the psychological components of the experience of pain that may then have an effect on even severe pain.”

There are examples of hypnosis pain relief throughout history. More than 2500 years ago hypnosis pain relief was used in Greece, China and in Egypt. The ruins of sleep healing temples exist to this day.

I don’t have 2500 hundred years of pain relief hypnosis experience. But, for the past 20 years, I have been building on that history by helping people find pain relief through hypnosis.
