Supermarkets and restaurants are starting to pay attention to the fact that plant-based foods are trending in in U.S. markets. That, of course, is exciting for me. Since 1990, my Slender For Life™ Weight Loss Hypnosis program has supported people around the globe with a plant-based lifestyle.
Based on the scientific evidence of the past 100 years, there is no denying the benefits of plant based food. People who eat whole plant-based food lose weight and keep it off. They have less cancer, autoimmune disease, hypertension, diabetes, dementia, irritable bowel syndrome and fibromyalgia.
The increase in plant-strong athletes in recent years demonstrates that the best proteins for strength and endurance are plant-proteins.
For the past 22 years I have lived a plant-based lifestyle. It’s never really been a challenge, but it is becoming easier to eat out. I love it that most of the food trucks in downtown Seattle all have plant-based options. And, it thrills me to death when I see lunch lines out the door at plant-based food restaurants.

I grew up on a Minnesota dairy farm so when I weighed 260 pounds I couldn’t imagine life without cheese, butter, ice cream and meat. If I was cooking vegetables they were smothered in sharp cheddar cheese.
With hypnosis for weight loss, giving up the dairy and meat was really easy. I very quickly had a large amount of no desire to eat animal products. The fact that I felt so much better was a powerful reinforcement.
When I weighed 260 pounds, I had high blood pressure and was borderline diabetic. Today, having released 120 pounds, my health is excellent. When I am in a medical office, (like the other day at the dentist) the hygienist and the dentist both grilled me. They were sure that a senior citizen must have some prescription medications. No – sorry – no medications. I also attribute that to no meat, no dairy and to physical activity.

“But there are more stats to back up the meatless game. Thirty-six percent of consumers buy plant-based meats; 26% of consumers say they have reduced their consumption of meat in the past 12 months; and 58% of adults drink non-dairy milk, according to speakers at Expo East. Fifty-eight percent.”

The future of plant-based foods
“For plant-based foods, the future is bright. That was the overarching theme at this year’s Expo East, from the show floor to educational sessions. And with good reason. Eighty-three percent of Americans said they are open to making meatless dishes, particularly if they have a similar taste and texture to meat-centric dishes, according to a study by the California Walnut Board, which certainly has a stake in the plant-based game.
