For over twenty-three years now I have been learning about how plant-based foods benefit longevity and your overall health. When I weighed 260 pounds, my daughter-in-law urged us to try a 6 week food cleanse using the McDougall Program. My wife thought it was a great idea and I went along with it.
I lost weight and I felt better. And, of course as soon as the cleanse was over I went back to cheeseburgers, fries and hot-fudge marshmallow malts. Any weight I had lost was quickly recaptured along with a few extra pounds.
Weight Loss Hypnosis
It was about a year later when I was first tried weight loss hypnosis and had results, that I went back to the McDougall Plan for plant-based eating. I did more reading and research and soon discovered how much I loved the flavor and texture of plant-based foods and more importantly, how much better I felt.
I read thousands of pages, attended classes and studied everything I could about plant-based nutrition and health.The health benefits of plant-based foods for weight loss, autoimmune disease, cancer fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome and other illnesses became very evident to me.
Today, when someone asks me to support them with a high protein diet (meaning animal fats), I’m clear that my answer is, “no.” I cannot support someone in continuing an unhealthy lifestyle with weight loss hypnosis. What I have found interesting is that when I present the evidence supporting plant-based food, almost everyone chooses to seek my support to improve their health.

Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, Breaking Medical News, June 27, 2014: Vegetarian diets increase longevity and reduce greenhouse gases, according to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Researchers investigated health impacts and greenhouse gas emissions related to dietary patterns among Seventh-day Adventists. They found that non-vegetarians experienced a 20 percent higher mortality rate than vegetarians. A vegetarian diet reduced emissions by 29 percent while a semi-vegetarian diet reduced emissions by 22 percent, compared with non-vegetarian diets. This study emphasizes that even modest reductions of animal product consumption potentially provide significant health and environmental benefits.
