The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein for the average adult is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight. To find out your average individual need, simply perform the following calculation: Body weight (in pounds) x 0.36 = recommended protein intake (in grams). If you do calculate it out, you will see that your protein requirements are really quite low. If you are consuming enough calories, you you are consuming enough protein – even if you are living on junk food. Lack of protein is not your problem. The real problem is lack of fiber. Chan School of Public Health in Boston. “That includes nuts and beans, and even whole grains contribute some protein. Their fat profile is better than red meat’s, they have no cholesterol or heme iron, and they have essential nutrients and fiber. Red meat has no fiber. So when we put all of those things together, it’s not surprising that plant proteins are a healthier package.”

Here in the U.S., people eat more chicken, fist, beef and pork and consume more dairy than anywhere else. People are obsessed with protein. We spend the most money on healthcare.
