Congratulations for (almost) finishing reading this book, and I hope listening to all the CDs as well. That’s an achievement in itself, as the path of good intentions is littered with unread books. If you have also reached your goal weight, then let me add my applause to that of the people in your life who support your achievement.

If all of your family and friends are indeed cheering your accomplishment, then count yourself fortunate. There are some people who reach their goal weight only to take on the additional challenge of resisting the negative influences of those around them who cannot share in their happiness. What you are really learning to do here is take back your power. The power you gave away to food, to other people, events and circumstances. You are becoming that Leader of Self. As Dr. Wayne Dyer says, “Step out of the pack and do it differently, and do it in such a way that no one notices.” But this may not be the first time you’ve been at this juncture in your life, enjoying reaching your goal weight, believing this time will be forever. As you well know, maintaining your new weight is what separates yo-yo dieters from people who become long-term success stories.
