Exercise is the third step to the Seven Steps to Permanent Weight Control. I still remember hating to sweat and hating to exercise. But, thanks to hypnosis, I began to look forward to exercise and actually began to enjoy it. A big reason the joy that I receive from exercise is social. I have gone to the same gym at the same time for the past 15 years. There are several of us who have worked out together for years and we have become friends. We watch out for each other. If I am toying with the idea of rolling over to go back to sleep, I know that I will be grilled the next day – that is almost always enough motivation to get me out of bed. If you struggle with motivation to exercise I have two recommendations: 1) create a support group of peers and 2) learn self-hypnosis. Third Step: Exercise
Exercise every day, aerobically for at least a half hour. Use self-hypnosis so that exercise becomes part of your daily routine. Fast walking is an excellent form of exercise. If you’re just beginning to exercise, start out in short durations and build up to 30-45 minutes a day. You want to begin doing your exercise today! This gets your metabolism going to burn off your excess body fat and increase your lean body mass.
Your body is like your automobile. Take care of it, don’t abuse it and it will last longer and perform better.
If you are not already enjoying regular daily exercise, stop rationalizing why you cannot or do not take the time. Put it in your schedule and make it a top priority. Along with developing a habit for a daily exercise routine, increase your physical activity whenever you can. Remember, losing your weight is a relatively short-term process. Staying healthy and fit should be for a lifetime.
