Positive brain changes with mindfulness meditation at Seattle hypnosis
Just two weeks of mindfulness meditation results in positive changes in your brain. Quite literally, sustained meditation leads to something called neuroplasticity, which is defined as the brain’s ability to change, structurally and functionally, on the basis of environmental input. For much of the last century, scientists believed that the brain essentially stopped changing after adulthood. Today we know that mindfulness meditation techniques like the self hypnosis that I teach you at Seattle hypnosis and Bainbridge Island hypnosis increases the number of signaling connections in the brain.

Dr. Weissman,
Is there any evidence that hypnosis can influence gene expression in fetuses, in case parents are programmed subconsciously to have their children expressing specific genes received from them, as would be the case, for example, of a parent not wanting a child to risk developing a certain hereditary disease ?
Hi Dennis
That is a fascinating question! I’ve been thinking about it since I saw it posted on Facebook. I’m not aware of any research – Have you checked Google Scholar?
I think that the answer is “yes”. If all thought, all memory and all emotion occurs and is stored in every cell of the body, and if the fetus in the embryotic fluid of its mother experiences the thoughts and emotions of the mother, then it is possible to influence gene expression.
Please keep me in the loop on this – it certainly fits with the neuroplasticity hypnosis work that I do with cancer, autoimmune disease, heart disease ….
My best wishes,
Roger
