Time to cook
Which is it for you – time to cook or time for your doctor? So many of the illnesses that are driving up our healthcare costs today are food-born. By that I mean, they are a result of the Standard American Diet.
Thankfully, many of these same illnesses are preventable and reversible with a whole-food plant-based lifestyle.
One complaint that I sometimes hear is that I don’t have time for all of that cooking it takes for vegetables and whole grains. So it’s off to McDonald’s or the rotisserie chicken from the market. My experience is that over the past 25 years of eating plant-based meals, I’ve spent very little time in a doctor’s office. I just received an email from someone who I helped with hypnosis 3 years ago. She is now off all her medications and her medical doctor (who she used to see a couple times a month) told her to come back in one year.
She makes time to cook and is slender and healthy.
Plant-based eating can be surprisingly quick, easy, affordable and absolutely delicious! So, my question to you is, how do you want to spend your time?
Plant-based nutrition for healthcare professionals: implementing diet as a primary modality in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease
Cardiovascular disease remains the world’s leading cause of death. Yet, we have known for decades that the vast majority of atherosclerosis and its subsequent morbidity and mortality are influenced predominantly by diet. This paper will describe a health-promoting whole food, plant-based diet; delineate macro- and micro-nutrition, emphasizing specific geriatric concerns; and offer guidance to physicians and other healthcare practitioners to support patients in successfully utilizing nutrition to improve their health.
More than going vegan
“These Days many diseases, health conditions and disorders are lifestyle- or diet-related, among them high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity and diabetes. Nutrition experts Julienna Hever and Raymond J Cronise are adamant that if food can wreak havoc on your health, then a diet can be designed to remedy certain health problems. You just need to pay extra attention to what you eat and how much you eat.”
“If you don’t have time to cook, time for your health, you’ll have time for medical procedures later in life. We want to live longer, not just live healthy. We eat what we can eat to survive and reproduce. The point here is when we look at our age, we just can’t eat almost anything. You eat the plants or eat the animals that eat the plant? But the nutrition came from the plant. We need to restrict our diet and we need to eat more plants,”
