How you cut your calories

Its important to be careful how you cut your calories when you lose weight. Slender For Life™ Weight Loss Hypnosis clients learn that if they cut too many calories, weight loss can slow or even stop.

I generally recommend the guidelines put forth by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). They recommend that you take your goal weight and multiply it times ten. In other words, if your goal weight is 150 pounds, then you should consume about 1500 calories per day for weight loss.

Tip 4 “Be careful how you cut your calories” is Tip 4 in Chapter 7 of my book, Becoming Slender For Life.

4. Be careful how you cut your calories

A low-calorie diet may be right for people who only need to lose 20 or 30 pounds. But if your goal is 100 pounds or more, you need more calories just to survive. “The more you weigh, the higher your caloric needs,” Finestein says, “so you can eat more than a person who weighs less, and still lose an equal amount of weight.” If you can eliminate 500 calories out of your diet every day, you could see a one-pound weight loss each week, she says.
