WOW! Unbelievable! The health officials at the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) have approved the first prescription weight-loss drug (Slentrol or dirlotapide) for dogs. The drug decreases the dog’s appetite and fat absorption. Approximately 5% of the 65 million dogs in the US are obese and another 24% are considered overweight.

Just like us, overweight dogs are at risk of developing diabetes, heart trouble, joint problems and other complications associated with being fat. The drug’s side effects include vomiting, loose stools, diarrhea & lethargy. So, do you spend 15 minutes a day cleaning up vomit or take your canine friend (and YOU) for a walk?

Seems like we are always looking for a quick fix, a quick way out. Let’s create another pill. Or, consider using hypnotherapy to motivate yourself to take your dog for a walk. Consider the benefits of hypnosis to recognize when you have eaten enough food and don’t need to clean your plate or have that cookie.

And, yes, I know that are exceptions, I remember our black lab Brandi on Maui. We had to hang a sign on her asking the neighbors to not feed her as she wandered from lanai to lanai at dinner time seeing what she could beg. But even in her old age, we kept her active to the extent that she could be and did our best to control her food intake.

So remember, with self-hypnosis, you can be in control of what you eat, how much you eat and can create the motivation to take yourself and your best friend for a walk!
