I read an interesting article in the Seattle PI on October 17, 2008, by Lauran Neergaard about a recent study by Dr. Eric Stice at the Oregon Research Institute found that when the brain doesn’t sense enough gratification from food, people may overeat to compensate.

The small but first-of-a-kind study even could predict who would gain weight during the next year: Those who harbored a gene that made their brain’s yum factor even more sluggish. “The more blunted your response to the milkshake taste, the more likely you are to gain weight.“
This study raises all kinds of questions and curiosities for me. I remember when I weighed 100 + pounds more than I do now, it took a whole lot more food to satisfy me than now. Last night I nibbled on two small squares of chocolate and felt totally satisfied. these days small amounts of foods satisfy my pleasure center. So, I wonder, does being overweight blunt the sensations to the brain? Can losing weight restore the sensation sensitivity to the brain? I look forward to more research on this.
Here is what I do know: You can use hypnosis several times a day, every day to change your eating behaviors and to enhance your pleasure from eating healthy food. Losing weight does not have to be an awful and un-pleasurable experience.
