Hypnosis for out-thinking Parkinson’s

I get excited when I find articles that support using Hypnosis for out-thinking Parkinson’s Disease. Having said that, these articles do not mention hypnosis, but Medical Hypnosis is perfect for becoming unstuck due to traumatic stress and for creating  expectations for success.

I teach you the tools so that you can induce neural changes very quickly to calm Parkinson’s symptoms.

For the past 25 years, I have been been supporting people living with Parkinson’s with Medical Hypnotherapy. If you are living with Parkinson’s Disease, hypnosis may be able to help you too. All sessions are live online secure telehealth sessions that you can attend from the comfort of your own home, office, RV, hotel room or where ever you maybe.

I also invite people living with Parkinson’s and their support people to join with us for the Parkinson’s Resource Organization’s Mindfulness Group. This month the meeting will be held on February 22. Click on the button to the right for details and registration.

Feeling Trapped and Parkinson’s Disease

“We need to be doing everything we can to calm our Nervous Systems, Immune Systems, inflammation, stressful emotional states and anxious thoughts, to address unhealthy relationships, to restore a sense of internal and external safety, and to send the message to our biology that ‘the war is over’.

As a first step, we perhaps need to identify the places where we are stuck in our lives, those stressors which come with a sense of being trapped, the stressful things we can’t fight or flee from, and try to address these. This is because the tonic immobilization framework of PD predicts that it will be very hard to reduce symptoms in circumstances that our nervous system is constantly feeling trapped by a proximate threat. Examples include being in a toxic relationship, living in a house with neurotoxic mold infestations, workplace exposure to a chemical agent, enduring a long and stressful daily commute to work.”

Expectation modulates the response to subthalamic nucleus stimulation in Parkinsonian patients

“Expectations about future events are known to trigger neural mechanisms that affect both perception and action. Here we report that different and opposite expectations of bad and good motor performance modulate the therapeutic effects of subthalamic nucleus stimulation in Parkinsonian patients who had undergone chronic implantation of electrodes for deep brain stimulation. By analyzing the effects of subthalamic stimulation on the velocity of movement of the right hand, we found hand movement to be faster when the patients expected a good motor performance. The expectation of good performance was induced through a placebo-like procedure, thus indicating that placebo-induced expectations have influence on the treatment outcome. All these effects occurred within minutes, suggesting that expectations induce neural changes very quickly.”
