Hungry hippocampus

If you’ve never thought about your hungry hippocampus, maybe you should. Did you know that much of hunger is controlled by your memory – not by your body telling you it’s time to eat?

Your hippocampus is a small convoluted, seahorse-shaped structure in the cerebral cortex of the temporal lobe of the brain that plays an important role in the limbic system. The hippocampus is involved in the formation of new memories and is also associated with learning, emotions and motivation.

A few weeks ago I came across the podcast on NPR. It’s title, Hungry, Hungry Hippocampus, immediately caught my attention.

Over the past 21 years I’ve come to understand just how important the role of food is in our lives. It’s not just about fuel for the body. As humans we break bread together. We commune over food. Food is very social – it play an important role in our family, culture and our own identity.

Food become a problem when it makes us fat and sick. It can be difficult to distinguish the 10th bite from the 11th bite. Hypnosis for weight loss can help you to create a new relationship with your self and with your food.

Weight loss hypnosis can help you to totally experience the social and emotional aspects of food and stop eating when you have consumed enough calories.
